Every time iTunes gets updated, I do not hesitate to do so. It’s the first app I fire up. Being a freelancer I’m on my mac all day, and music is my old friend and associate. Have to say, this iTunes update feels snappier, even all the artwork looks like it got a good color boost and it shows way faster. And as Apple says, really fast backups of the iPhone (big win). From Apple’s site, here are the new features and improvements:
- Sync with iPhone 4 to enjoy your favorite music, movies, TV shows, books and more on-the-go
- Sync and read books with iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4 and iBooks 1.1
- Organize and sync PDF documents as books. Read PDFs with iBooks 1.1 on iPad and any iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4
- Organize your apps on your iOS 4 home screens into folders using iTunes
- Faster back-ups while syncing an iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 4
- Album artwork improvements make artwork appear more quickly when exploring your library

The Audiobooks category now shows three ways of browsing: Books, Authors and Categories, which is really helpful if you have tons of books. I have 9: 8 Douglas Adams (Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency; Dirk Gently’s The Long Dark Tea Time Of The Soul; The Hitchhickers Guide To The Galaxy; The Restaurant At The End Of The Universe; Life, The Universe and Everything; Mostly Harmless; The Salmon Of Doubt; So Long and thanks for All The Fish) and one Seth Godin (Tribes). What can I say… other than Douglas Adams helped me get through the boring time that is recovering from Lasik surgery a few years ago. I recovered laughing!
The iPhone, iPod and iPad apps now can be also be browsed in a friendlier matter: by Apps (old way) or Genres (cooler way):
TV shows and Movies also got a but of organizing magic. Both sections got blessed with an Unwatched section. And as always, they can be also browsed by TV Show or Movies, Genres or Unwatched.
Oh, and it suports iOS4 and the iPhone 4.
